“You want me to put my hand where?”
A practical approach to staging intimacy. This workshop is for anyone looking to stage human sexuality safely and powerfully – actors, directors, fight directors, and stage managers should be especially interested! Much like a fight choreographer, an intimacy choreographer uses similar techniques to teach and guide actors towards a safer, more professional, and dynamic telling of the story.
Participants explore how to quickly build chemistry between partners and make intimate choreography more comfortable for everyone involved. By applying the same rigour to staged intimacy as we would to staged violence, this workshop provides theatre professionals with a toolkit to ensure that human sexuality in performance is treated with respect, safety and artistry.
Participants will focus on subtle and specific details in movement and will have an opportunity to apply the techniques in performance. Touching is required, kissing is not.
