Fighty Field Trip: Robin Hood

  • The Fox Theatre 2236 Queen Street East Toronto, ON, M4E 1G2 Canada (map)

Let’s go on a field trip!

The Fox Theatre in The Beaches, Toronto, is playing The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), with Errol Flynn as Robin Hood, and Basil Rathbone as the Sir Guy of Gisbourne.

Let’s meet there and enjoy a classic swashbucking film together!

Fighty facts about the film:

  • This is the second time that the iconic pair of Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone dueled on film. The first was Captain Blood (1935)

  • Basil Rathbone was one of the great movie sword-fighters of his time. He was a two-time British Army Fencing Champion, which is quite evident in another film, The Mark of Zorro (1940).

  • Legendary archer Howard Hill did the trick shooting for the film, as well as played the role of “Elwyn the Welshman” in the archery contest.

Buy your own movie tickets through the Fox Theatre website and we’ll all meet at the theatre at about 12:00 on January 25. Send us a message so that we know you’re coming. If we all arrive around the same time, we can grab seats together, and chat while we wait for the movie to start.

Note: The Fox Theatre is not sponsoring this event, nor are they otherwise affiliated. We’re just buying tickets and showing up. Do not contact the Fox Theatre for information on this event.
